Job title: Mass-spectrometry technician

Job description Summary: Responsible for all aspects of day-to-day maintenance and operation of QTof Mass spectrometer, GCMS, Analytical and Preparatory HPLC and other related instruments in a chemistry laboratory.

Educational Qualification: M.Sc .in Analytical Chemistry or closely related discipline.

Required Experience: Maintaining clean lab, experience required in daily maintenance, operation, method development of LCMS, HPLC and GCMS. At least 3 years experience in either industry or academia where the candidate had sole responsibility for at least 2 of the 3 instruments; working knowledge of others desired.

Job Title: Registrar

Reports to: Vice Chancellor

Purpose of the Job:

Provide leadership to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the the academic administration of the University with respect to Records and Registration, including serving as the official authorized custodian of all University records required under relevant statutes and ordinances and ensure that the University is compliant with all national and international regulations applicable to the University.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Direct and coordinate University registration activities.
  • Responsible for collecting, recording, maintaining and reporting of records as required for appropriate inspections and statutory audits, being accountable for compliance function.
  • Work closely with the offices of Dean of UG and Dean of PG for all activities related to students.
  • Liaison with relevant government bodies on University matters, and ensure compliance with all application statutes.
  • Provide leadership and take initiative for implementation of related technology applications in support of enhanced services offered through Registration and Records.
  • Supervise and evaluate the Records and Registration staff.
  • Maintain the highest order of integrity in the processes relating to the Registration activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor and the Academic Council.
Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Directs preparation of statistical reports on educational activities for government and educational agencies and interprets registration policies for the benefit of faculty, parents/guardians and students.
  • Supports activities relating to the transcribing and evaluating of academic records of students applying for admission.
  • Responsible for development and administration of the departmental budget.
  • Consult with other officials to devise registration schedules and procedures.
  • Analyzes statistical data on registration for administrative use in formulating policies.

Person specification:

An ideal candidate should have experience of running operations in academic administration in the Higher Education sector. Innovative, confident and capable individuals with experience in higher education teaching, a passion for academic administration and prepared to develop domain expertise may also apply. Since SNU will have a strong IT foundation in its operations and delivery processes, an understanding of the application of technology to deliver results across all student services is a key requirement. Proven track record of working collaboratively and successfully with diverse stakeholders, positive attitude, ability to plan and adapt to change, excellent written and oral communication skills, effective organizational skills essentially planning, organizing, analyzing and resolving are a must. A high level of physical and mental energy and flexibility to work long hours in deadline situations is required.

Job Title: Content writer

Position open for an instructor in writing pedagogy to teach one section of a hybrid Academic Writing Course at SNU English in Spring 2014. The hybrid section has 1.5 hours of class contact hours per week; the remaining instruction is online with a more flexible contact time per week.

Eligibility: Candidates must either have a Ph.D. or be in the advance stage of thesis completion in any of the following disciplines: English, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Philosophy or Psychology.

Purpose of the Job:

PMO will work for the VC’s Office across a wide range of critical areas towards the achievement of the University vision and strategic goals. This includes planning, analysis of critical data, research and advisory support.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide support groundwork for new initiatives conceptualized by SNU.
  • Contribute in planning activities for SNU considering all aspects of University functions.

Based on matching qualification and experience, we may also consider part-time contractual appointment for a period of 8 months, in lieu-of the full-time appointment.The position is available immediately.

The person needs to work on a project in areas of development economics, requiring skills in empirical work. The project uses different socio-economic databases and the RA primarily needs to work on those. The person should have knowledge and experience in working with the National Sample Survey (NSS)'s unit level data. The person needs to work from data extraction, cleaning, preliminary estimates, and all other related work that may come in the way.

He or she should be comfortable using STATA, and preferably, Excel-macro.

The candidate should preferably have Masters in Economics / Quantitative Economics / Stats / Maths, or similar fields or currently studying in any one of the above.

A person with undergraduate degree in any of the above fields and extensive experience in handling NSS data might also be considered, if found to be a good match in all other counts.

Person should be comfortable in handling the NSS data, and excited about data crunching, extraction, cleaning; should be able to deliver within the limited time of the project duration.

Salary should not be a constraint for the right candidate.

  • Warden has to keep the track of all inventory available within hostel premises.
