Creative Writing

 

The department has considerable expertise in creative writing prose–writing novels, short stories, memoirs, and creative nonfiction. Members of the department have published novels, short stories, and short nonfiction pieces in prestigious publications such as World Literature Today, Wasafiri, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Mekong Review, Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Litro UK, Himal Southasian, The Huffington Post, The Punch Magazine and others. They have won prestigious fellowships such as the Hawthornden Castle Fellowship, the Vermont Studio Center Fellowship, and the Canserrat Arts Center Residency. The department's annual literary magazine, the Freewheeler, provides an exciting opportunity for students to explore various forms of creative writing.
