Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR is proud to announce its latest offering in higher education; the Shiv Nadar University-Dassault Systèmes Centre of Excellence (SDC).

Spread over 5000 square feet, the state-of-the-art Centre is an outcome of a novel academia-industry collaboration. SDC aims to fuel research, innovation, design and entrepreneurship, through problem solving on industry-based projects using Dassault Systèmes’ globally recognized 3DExperience platform.

Students at the SDC will receive training and exposure to real-world industry practices and challenges, with the goal to devise innovative, deployable and sustainable solutions. Their potential will be honed by distinguished minds from faculty as well as industry experts. This collaborative approach facilitates creation of an industry-ready and future-ready global workforce, with a highly enhanced employability quotient.

The SDC will be equipped with a host of enviable facilities ranging from world class Dassault Systèmes (DS) software to complementary high-end workstations, 3DExperience theater, VR setup and a sophisticated lab alongside functional spaces. Key focus areas will be product design, business analytics and predictive sciences for drug discovery and systems biology analysis.

Dassault Systèmes software – highly acclaimed by industry and academia equally, has been made available for students at the SDC in both Academic and Research versions. 1200 licenses of academic version of 3DExperience platform, research and academic version of Biovia software and MDES research version of Abaqus suite are available to integrate people across departments and business verticals.

The SDC reiterates Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR’s commitment towards promoting cutting edge research and technology-based education, while pushing the boundaries of academic excellence. It aims to nurture empowered professionals and thought-leaders who can anticipate, ideate, shape and implement the best of solutions to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s world.

Objectives

Project-based Learning to Prepare Industry-ready Students

SDC is focused on promoting hands-on project-based learning as the means to develop path-breaking and well-researched solutions, rooted in real-world application. Students at the SDC will train on various modules of Dassault Systèmes’ world-class 3DExperience platform. Such invaluable training combined with project-based learning will enable the development of highly employable industry-ready graduates, who are equipped to meet various business and societal challenges head on.  

Offer Multidisciplinary Courses

Multidisciplinary learning is an important hallmark of Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR. SDC seeks to uphold this objective, by imparting students with knowledge and practical experience, through a curriculum of courses designed by amalgamating various disciplines; as well as organizing short-term certification trainings and workshops. 

Industry–Academia Collaboration

More than ever today, it is vital for academic research to be relevant to what is taking place real-time in the industry. To achieve this critical balance, the Centre is committed to follow a collaborative instruction model, merging the best of faculty, researchers from different universities as well as industry experts. 

HCL Engineering & R&D Services

Development of Digital Twin for Assembly Line Work Assignment

Project Supervision:
The project is being jointly led by Dr. Divya Shrivastava, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR and the HCL Engineering & R&D Services (ERS) team.

Objective: This multi-stage project explores the viability of robots being developed as a digital twin to workers, and being deployed to perform various functions along the industrial assembly line.

Project Supervision:
The project is being jointly led by Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Dr. Ankit Gupta and Sumit Tiwari, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR and the HCL Engineering & R&D Services (ERS) team.

3D Printing

Project Supervision:
The project is being jointly led by Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Head – SDC and the HCL Engineering & R&D Services (ERS) team.

Objective: This collaborative project aims to research and devise solutions for 3D printing application in new technologies.

HCL Engineering & R&D Services

AI & Analytics

Project Supervision:
The project is being jointly led by Dr. Niteesh Sahni, Department of Mathematics, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR and the HCL Engineering & R&D Services (ERS) team.

Objective: The third project is in the domain of AI & Analytics. This project explores the application of recent state of the art techniques from Topological Data Analysis and Manifold Learning to build efficient systems for detecting anomalies in high frequency data arising from myriad industrial domains.

Humanitarian Aid International (HAI)

The curriculum at SDC emphasizes project-based learning that combines the knowledge and expertise of faculty and industry professionals. The aim is to facilitate innovative research-driven solutions that are the need of the hour for both industry and society.

One of the first such projects undertaken by the SDC is in collaboration with Gurugram-based NGO, Humanitarian Aid International (HAI), in the area of Disaster Management.

The project involves Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR faculty namely Prof. Jyoti Sharma, Dr. Prem Pandey, Dr. Ramesh Gupta and Dr. Niteesh Sahni. They will be working in close collaboration with Founder & CEO HAI, Mr. Sudhanshu S. Singh and President HAI, Dr. N.M. Prusty.

The objective of the project is to develop a logical, quick and effective framework of Disaster Assessment. This is a 3-phased project that deploys AI/ML techniques to extract information about infrastructure damage and population displacement using drones and satellite imagery.

ABAQUS workshop conducted in December 2020 was moderated by Dr. Ankit Gupta, Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Anant Bhatnagar and Srikant Padmanabhan.

Biovia Materials Studio Workshop

From Introduction to Molecular Modelling to studying zeolites for adsorption of gas molecules, the five-day workshop dealt with various topics.
