The Department of International Relations and Governance Studies, Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR invites you to a virtual session titled Critical Caste Studies and International Relations: Notes on a New Subfield’ by Dr. Gajendran Ayyathurai, University of Göttingen, Germany on 10 March, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

Abstract of the talk
Caste is a problem which rips apart lives in India and overseas. Nonetheless, humanities and social sciences as well as IR studies have largely overlooked how, why, and in what ways caste-based sociality is reinforced through myths, theories, policies, institutions, and programs of civil society, state, and the academy. Ironically, this is so even as caste/casteism is evidenced in not just South Asia but also in Europe, North America, the Caribbean, and so on. In this talk we will explore the possibilities that Critical Caste Studies could offer for a global understanding of caste.
