Department of Life Sciences organizes seminar on Multiscale modeling of human disease biology: From Molecules to Patients

The clinical features of human diseases are an outcome of molecular, sub-cellular and tissue level interactions that ultimately impact underlying human diseases and will help devise better strategies for prevention, diagnosis and clinical management. I will discuss our work on understanding human diseases using a combination of model systems to uncover molecular and cellular mechanisms that lead to phenotypes in human neurodevelopmental disorders arising from defects in phosphoinositide signalling. Our results highlight the need for multiscale modelling to uncover mechanisms in human disease biology and also reveal novel mechanisms in lipid signalling in metazoan cells.
