Acknowledging the selfless service of Indian Air Force personnel for their contributions, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, the Indian Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday (March 18, 2024), to support the education of the wards of IAF personnel.

Under this five-year agreement, wards of IAF personnel will receive tuition fee concessions as follows: 100% (Freeship) for up to 3 wards of IAF personnel who died while on duty, up to 75% for up to 8 wards of serving IAF personnel, and up to 50% for up to 4 wards of retired IAF personnel.

The MoU was signed by Air Vice Marshal Rajeev Sharma, VSM, and Professor Ananya Mukherjee, Vice-Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University. Group Captain Maneesha Rajput and Professor Rajeev Kumar Singh served as witnesses.

The signing ceremony was attended by Air Marshal R.K. Anand, VSM, Corporal Ankit Pal, and Sergeant Pardeep Kumar. Air Marshal RK Anand VSM praised the campus and commended its efforts to promote a multidisciplinary and research-driven academic environment.

Speaking at the event, Air Marshal R.K. Anand said, “I am extremely happy that we are signing this MoU with Shiv Nadar University. I am confident that the multidisciplinary education imparted here will help students and I am confident that this great campus will provide them with memorable lifelong experiences.”

The MoU covers families of deceased IAF personnel while in service, disabled individuals, physical casualties, retired personnel, and those currently serving, including those posted abroad on special missions or duties.

Echoing the sentiments of Air Marshal R.K. Anand, Shiv Nadar University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ananya Mukherjee said, “We are confident that the schools run by the defence forces will provide the university with some best students. Through the variety of specializations that the university offers, we provide a perfect balance between academic focus with a career balance.”

The signing of the MoU with IAF comes exactly a year after the university inked an understanding with the Indian Navy, and the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA).

With the MoU signing with the IAF, Shiv Nadar University now has an understanding with all three services of the armed forces. In 2021, the university had entered into an agreement with the Indian Army to train the personnel in Chinese (Mandarin) language.
